The Weeknd: "Aquarius Prince of the Pluto in Scorpio Generation

The Weeknd: "Aquarius Prince of the Pluto in Scorpio Generation." I am sure he will like this title. Makes him feel special.

If you haven't heard of The Weeknd by now. You are retarded. Still google it. And no I am not spelling it wrong. No its not some Norwegian, punk rock band. It's a Canadian. Yup this is a one man "band" (ha, he trick yo asses), is actually Canadian. Anyway if you want his bio, wikipedia him, cuss ain't nobody got time for no lengthy posts on what part of Canada he is from. (P.S. I don't know that shit anyway).

The Weeknd (aka Abel Tesfaye) is a perfect example and representative of the Pluto in Scorpio generation. This Aquarius sun, lunar Scorpion (twinsies!!!) music artist is enigmatic, secretive, and powerful.  His astrotheme profile.

In the beginning of his career he managed to build a strong/solid following while remaining mostly anonymous, well that is until a bunch of big people began throwing money at him. (Bandz will make him sang!!!). 

 
Ok not to sound like a total D-bag Hipster (p.s. I am going to sound like one anyway). I started to listen to him in the beginning before he got super famous, (around 2011, when he used to release his mix-tapes for free). When I tell you there was virtually no personal information out there, no interviews, nothing. P.S. even now there are no interviews. I listened to him then because I was (and still am) going through a rough time emotionally and his music spoke to the fucked up Plutonian in me. Random but I visited this forum 3 years ago trying to find his astrology information. By the way my favorite songs by him are: Initiation, The Knowing, High for this, House of Balloons, Glass Table Girls. Yup I know old school- The Weeknd.


His lyrics are dark, intense, and filthy with content that pretty much revolves around sex, drugs, partying, trust issues, power dynamics, and betrayal. Here is are quotes I pulled from his Wikipedia page of how others describe his music:

He pretty much channels Pluto in Scorpio Generation to a T. Drugs are an experience, singing about detached, drugged up emotional obsessive sex, in a sexy/unsexy way and with completely vulgar lyrics. By the way this is random but he looks like the singer, Maxwell (without his afro), and sounds a bit like Michael Jackson. Anyway he is a leader of the PR&B genre (aka indie- R&B, alternative R & B or dark R&B). Aka the Pluto in Scorpio Generation's version of R&B.

Abel actually makes being fucked up (literally and figuratively) look and sound amazing. Watch his music videos (such as Twenty Eight, Often, Earned It) filled with dark, ambient, murky and hazy aesthetics and imagery, sexy slightly masochistic themes filled with scantily clad heroin chic women dazed out their minds (along with Abel himself).

To get into his astrology; The Weeknd is an Aquarius sun, so his personality cool detached and intellectual. His mercury is also is in Aquarius, which means he is an original, detached cerebral thinker and communicator. He oftentimes rationalizes his emotions and tries to detaches himself from them. 


The irony of it is, that he can’t successfully do that. This is because his moon is Scorpio, so he has intense dark emotions that cannot be ignored or detached from. He’s secretive, possessive, often-times passive aggressive, and all around fucked up. His moon is also conjunct his Pluto in Scorpio, wants to feel fully, fearless, recklessly, and has that dark Hades moon thing going.

He has a stellium in Capricorn (Venus-which represents relationships, Mars-which represents work and sexuality, Saturn which represents fears and limitations). He also has multiple Mars in Capricorn conjunctions with the outer planets Neptune, Uranus, and Saturn. All of this symbolizes that he is serious and fearful in relationships, hard-working/workaholic, that he fears responsibilities and being in control even though he is attracted to it and seeks these things out. 


There is an insecurity and feeling of not being worthy of love and relationships involved. He is also very self-abusing. There is a delusion (Neptune) and rebellion (Uranus) in regards to Mars and his sexuality. Abel/The Weeknd is a sensitive, delusion, and rebellious lover (think of Charlie Sheen).

His Jupiter is exalted in Cancer (and he has his wounded healer, Chiron, in Cancer). That means he is emotional, certified butt hurt person, who wants to feel and expand his feelings (Jupiter), but at the same time this causes pain because he’s been wounded and can’t do that (Chiron in Cancer). All he wants is to feel loved and safe in that love.

His has very strong Plutonian traits. Come on the amount of sex, drugs, complicated love entanglements in his music and lyrics makes it so obvious. Plus he also has that Saturnian (controlling his emotions) and Uranuian (detachment and pushing boundaries) themes in his music too. Abel is an eclectic mix of fucked-up-ness.

You feel the sense of the melancholy and detachment in his music. Plutonians especially mixed with Saturnian energy love to self-medicate. Abel uses drugs to mask and/or enhance his feelings and detach himself from them. He is fully aware that this lifestyle is not good for him and is very destructive yet he sings with such detachment about pretty much being a drug addict and a "love" addict.

In July 2013, during an interview with Complex, The Weeknd described the album, saying:

"Kiss Land symbolizes the tour life, but it’s a world that I created in my head. Just like House of Balloons symbolizes Toronto and my experiences there, but it’s a world that I created. When I think about Kiss Land, I think about a terrifying place. It’s a place I’ve never been to before that I’m very unfamiliar with. A lot of it is inspired by filmmakers like John Carpenter, David Cronenberg, and Ridley Scott, because they know how to capture fear. That’s what Kiss Land is to me, an environment that’s just honest fear. I don’t know who I am right now and I’m doing all these outlandish things in these settings that I’m not familiar with. To me, it’s the most terrifying thing ever. So when you hear the screams in the record and you hear all these horror references and you feel scared, listen to the music because I want you to feel what I’m feeling. Kiss Land is like a horror movie."[6]


This quote is very Plutonian/Saturnian. Fear is our most basic human instinct that pushes you to either fight or flight. In a Plutonians case they oftentimes run towards their fear. Even so, Abel knows unconsciously that his fear is trans-formative, so he put himself in situations that gives him horror movie vibes. So that he be stronger.

Whatever the case this post is getting to lengthy, and run-on sentency. My point is The Weeknd is a beautiful singer but fucked up. He needs a hug, family (whatever that is) and a home cooked meal; before he crosses too many boundaries and ends up joining the 27 club. I am not trying to be mean or negative. Hopefully he can cope with the fame and exposure. Anyway this is all I got to say for now :).

I fell in love with Jalāl ad-Dīn Muhammad Rumi's quote a couple of months back, "The wound is a place where the light enters." I never thought about him until now after clicking on an article about him (aka synchronicity). This got me thinking about what his sign is. Sure enough it is Libra. Sun in Libra (ruled by Venus) is sensitive to beauty, seeks out and fully embraces the beauty of life. Plus Libras have the amazing skill of putting together beautiful words in a nice, harmoniously way. Even so, he is not just his sun sign.

I looked up his chart on astrotheme. He has a Moon in Capricorn (wisdom from feelings of struggle, old age and experiences). Venus and Mars in Scorpio. Venus in Scorpio gives us emotionally deep, investigative, sometimes dark person who relates to others by delving into human psychology and figuring out secrets. Mars supports his Venus and sextiles the moon, his behavior supports his emotions and the way he relates to others and the world. Mars in Scorpio creates individuals whose actions are secretive, intense and on the self destructive/self trans-formative axis. Mercury conjunct Sun lightens him up and allows him to live out and express his ego/personality fully and proudly. Mercury in Libra is happy and lightens up his intense chart.
