In Conclusion: The Legacy of the Astrology of Leo Energy in Black Liberation: Haiti's Bois Caïman Vodou Meeting, Nat Turner 's Rebellion, and Leo Sun Emmett Till's Brutal Murder

Tomorrow or today (wherever you are at, is the start of Virgo Season) for me it’s August 22nd 2020 now. Until then in the 11th Hour (shout out to Aquarius) I will be concluding the Leo part in my Astrology of Black Liberation series I started. First and foremost there are so much to talk about with Leo and Liberation.

A lot of shit goes down in Leo/July/August season (honestly during the hot summer time months of Cancer, Leo, & Virgo energy). In concluding this series I want to talk about the Legacy of Leo Liberation with 3 more events that happened in Leo season and the legacy of these events in the context of Leo Energy.

Bois Caïman: Haiti August 14 1791

The Haitian Revolution started August 22nd 1791

Bois Caïman was an historic meeting/Vodou ceremony that took place on August 14 1791 before the Haitian revolution began (Leo Season 2 weeks later on August 22nd 1791). Aka today actually.

This August 14th “Bois Caïman” meeting was to plan the revolution that would take place 2 weeks later on August 22nd. This meeting, Bois Caïman (which means Alligator Forrest) was where enslaved Haitian peoples from a various plantations got together under the guise of just a Vodou ceremony to plan the enslaved peoples’ revolt that will lead to the Haitian Revolution (1791–1804), and Haiti earning the title of the 1st Black Republic in 1804.

It was notable also because of its’ mysterious black spirituality occultist setting in the form of a Vodun/Vodou ceremony taking in the middle of woods at night.

It was both a religious spiritual ritual ceremony and a strategic meeting with plans to rebel. The meeting was led by Haitian Freedom Fighter and Houngan (Vodou priest) Dutty Boukman and Cécile Fatiman, a Mambo aka Vodou priestess).

It’s important to note Haitian Vodou at that time wasn’t as sensationalize, demonized, or stigmatize as it is now (I wonder why). Enslaved Haitian people were allowed by plantation owners’ to get together to practice their traditional Vodou ceremony like a social gathering. I guess the slavers thought it improved their work ethic by improving their spirits (idk).

Anyway this event was a catalyst for the Haitian Revolution and it happening during Leo Season. It interesting because Dutty Boukman was translated and quoted saying:

“…This God who made the sun, who brings us light from above, who raises the sea, and who makes the storm rumble. That God is there, do you understand? Hiding in a cloud, He watches us, he sees all that the whites do! The God of the whites pushes them to crime, but he wants us to do good deeds. But the God who is so good orders us to vengeance. He will direct our hands, and give us help. Throw away the image of the God of the whites who thirsts for our tears. Listen to the liberty that speaks in all our hearts.”

My Leo Black Liberation Message: This is Leo Black Liberation. It’s seeing yourself as more than who you are, and wanting more for yourself. Un-confident and low self esteemed people, who don't have love or pride in their existence and self will not fight  for themselves. The pride, the beauty you see in yourself, and love for yourself is enough to fight for yourself and your people.  This is one of the messages I am stressing for my Astrology of Black Liberation Series; Leo season. Confidence and Love for self is an act of liberation that can inspire the liberation in others.

Nat Turner’s Rebellion: Leo August 21, 1831

I swear these freedom fighters are astrologers or used astrology to plan their rebellions. Especially in Libra sun Nat Turner’s case it isn’t far off. Random a couple of years ago (4 years ago in Libra season 2016); I written an astrology blog post on Libra Sun Nat Turner in link here: https://theastrofiend.blogspot.com/2016/10/american-revolutionary-freedom-fighter.html

This was during time of Birth of Nation movie based on Nat Turner’s Enslaved Peoples’ rebellion and Nate Parker fiasco.

If you don’t know Nathaniel “Nat” Turner (1800-1831) was an enslaved man who led a rebellion in Virginia on August 21, 1831 with a group of enslaved people he recruited.  Nat Turner was an educated enslaved person (who could read and write) who was also a preacher.

In this instance there is a religious spiritual supernatural element to it (like with Bois Caïman). Nat Turner claimed he saw divine signs, hear voices and believed that a solar eclipse was a sign from God. A sign to lead people from oppression and bondage into freedom.

So he led a rebellion where he on August 21st 1831 killed his oppressors, secures horses and guns with 75 other enslaved peoples. Turner killed about 55 white people. This rebellion ultimately failed with Turner and 56 of his co-conspirators were executed in Jerusalem, Virginia. This insurrection resulted in a massacre where over 150 black people were violently beaten and attacked by white mobs. This also led to more brutality and oppression including the prohibition of assembly and education for enslaved black people.

My Leo Black Liberation Message: Some can see this as a cautionary tale (and it is). But it’s also a strong message and symbol of the fight for life/ to survive no matter what. Especially in terms of black people using spirituality/religion as a form of liberation to give them confidence, to give themselves pride, and to fight against oppression. This is an example of Leo energy in black spirituality which can be liberating. Again you got to love yourself, take pride in your being, and existence, in order to fight for yourself and others; which is an important lesson in Leo energy in Black Liberation.

Emmett Till: A Leo Sun Symbol for Black Liberation in the Civil Rights era.

Emmett Till (July 25, 1941 – August 28, 1955). Emmett Till was a 14 year old Chicago teen who was visiting relatives in Mississippi who was brutally murdered in 1955 for allegedly flirting with a Carolyn Bryant, a white woman, in her family's grocery store.

For the supposed "crime" of whistling at her, Emmett was abducted from his relative’s home (by the accusers’ husband and half-brother) late in the night, beaten, pistol whipped, brutally mutilated, and shot in the head. He was then stripped naked, and the men tied with barbed wire around him with a large heavy metal cotton gin fan. After his murder they threw his body anchored with the large fan in a river and burned his clothes.

He was reported missing which caught the attention of Medgar Evers, a secretary for NAACP in Mississippi who got involved in trying to find him. His unrecognizable and grotesquely disfigured body was found a few days later. He could only be identified by a ring he was wearing.

Afterward his death/discovery his murder trial led to his murderers’ being swiftly acquitted in a matter of hours by an all-white jury.

The men who murdered Emmett Till proudly admitted in a magazine not to long after to murdering Emmett Till. One of Emmett Till’s murderers' was quoted saying to the magazine:

“Well, what else could we do? He was hopeless. I'm no bully; I never hurt a nigger* in my life. I like niggers*— in their place —I know how to work 'em. But I just decided it was time a few people got put on notice. As long as I live and can do anything about it, niggers* are gonna stay in their place. Niggers* ain't gonna vote where I live. If they did, they'd control the government. They ain't gonna go to school with my kids. And when a nigger* gets close to mentioning sex with a white woman, he's tired o' livin'. I'm likely to kill him. Me and my folks fought for this country, and we got some rights. I stood there in that shed and listened to that nigger* throw that poison at me, and I just made up my mind. 'Chicago boy,' I said, 'I'm tired of 'em sending your kind down here to stir up trouble. Goddam you, I'm going to make an example of you—just so everybody can know how me and my folks stand.” — J. W. Milam, Look magazine

Decades later in 2007/2008 the woman, Carolyn Bryant who started it all, admitted she lied in her testimony.

Emmett Till was a Leo Sun killed in Virgo Season who claim for rightful justice was evaded during Libra season with the acquittal of his murderers. There is a lot of Virgo energy sprinkled into this ( the incident happened on August 24th, he was murdered on August 28th, found a few days later his body was found). I am not focusing on that though.

The take away and Leo energy event in Emmett Till's case is his mother held an open casket funeral and allowed reporters to take photos of Emmett Till's dead body. She wanted to show people what white supremacists did to her son. The photos of Emmett Till's mutilated, bloated, deformed, and grotesque dead body was published on the front of Black magazines like Jet Magazine for all the world to see. His Sagittarius mother wanted the world to see what white supremacy and anti-black racism/systematic oppression violence looked like. You can find the pictures of Emmett Till's dead body now, let me just say thank God they are at least in black and white. SMH, I suggest you don't look at them or share them.

Emmett Till’s ghastly murder galvanized the black population in the pre-shadow period of Jim Crow/Segregation/Voting Suppression /Civil Rights era. A wake up siren for Black Liberation.

I would imagine it galvanize blacks in the same way Aquarius’s Trayvon Martin (murdered in Pisces Season February 26th 2012), Virgo Eric Garner (murdered in Cancer Season July 17th 2014) and Taurus Mike Brown (murdered in Leo Season August 9th 2014 ) wrongful murders galvanized the nation leading to protests, the formation of Black Lives Matter, calls for justice, anti-police brutality, and rioting/social out-rage. Sounds familiar right? Remember history don’t just repeats it rhymes too.

My Leo Black Liberation Message: My black liberation message here is not just about his death but the way in which his Leo energy was used. Emmett, a Leo Sun and a victim of white supremacy. The evil brutality and heinous nature of his murder became a symbol of black Leo Liberation in Civil Rights era (and now).

He was in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons but his death, his life force, his light, and his voice couldn’t be dimmed, inspiring folks even after his wrongful death. He helped propelled the civil rights movement forward. This sounds weird to some but you know energy can't be destroyed. I think Emmett's Leo energy and presence lived on, wanting to be hear and noticed. This along with the connection and love his mother had for him. Remember Leo rules over the 5th House which includes themes of love and kids/children.

His Black Live Mattered. Justice and retribution for this death mattered. He didn’t get the justice he deserved, but his unfortunate untimely dead, in a way shook up the United States of America. This is big Leo energy here, it was love of his mother, the NAACP's / Cancer sun Medgar Evers love and pride for his people that allowed for his life, his likeness to shine. This is Leo energy.

Thank you for reading. I hope to do this for each zodiac sign this year and next, but I'm also not putting too much pressure on myself.

The Spiritual Astrology of Black Liberation: Leo Haile Selassie & Rastafarianism

The Spiritual Astrology of Black Liberation: Leo Haile Selassie & Rastafarianism

The Astrology of Black Liberation isn’t just the social /political activists, artists, business leaders, educators, or leaders. It’s also about spirituality and religion too and how it’s unique to Black Liberation. Malcolm X was a Muslim. MLK Jr. was a Christian. James Baldwin atheist/agnostic. So, let’s talk about Rastafarianism and “their” messiah Emperor Haile Selassie I.

Rastafarianism is a religion/life style that started in the 1930s’ in Jamaica. The premise is the Rastas’ believe that Ethiopian emperor Haile Selassie I is the second coming of Jesus/Jah/the messiah and that he was supposed to usher in a new age of enlightenment, peace, prosperity for black people and show them the way to Zion.

Rastafarian Beliefs & Ideas

- Haile Selassie I is the human incarnate on Earth for Jah (God). A Jesus messiah figure/Second coming of Christ. Note a lot of people disagree with his and even Haile Selassie claimed not to be the second coming of Christ.

- Zion is the Promised Land, Babylon is western society that oppressed blacks globally

- Abrahamic monotheistic religion that follows the bible. It’s like an Afrocentric Protestant Christianity but not as monolithic or homogeneous with no real leader.

- Jah is short for Jehovah. This is what Rastafarians call God. The name Rastafari comes from the Ethiopian Emperor Haile Selassie  I pre royal name: Ras Tafari Makonnen. (Ras means prince or duke) and is an Ethiopian title. While Haile Selassie’s name is Tafari Makonnen, hence Ras(prince)-Tafari.

- Rastafarians aka Rastas twist their hair to dreadlocks (locs), smoke cannabis as a sacrament.

- Rasta’s keep an ital diet (vegetarian, fish no longer than 12 inches, no seafood like scrimp or shellfish, NO PORK, etc.)

- Rastafarianism grew in popularity partly because of a prophecy Leo sun Marcus Garvey had that said "Look to Africa where a black king shall be crowned, he shall be the Redeemer". After Marcus stated this Haile Selassie became Emperor of Ethiopia

The prominence and development of Rastafarianism was a reaction to the repression and oppression of British colonial rule for black Jamaicans. It was/is a way to take their power back. It’s very interesting that Jamaicans look up to Leo sun Marcus Garvey and Rastas’ look to a distant Leo sun African emperor Haile Selassie before Jamaica had gained independence and became a Leo country in 1962. The symbolism is interesting.

To get into Haile Selassie history and biography. Haile Selassie was born on Saturday, July 23, 1892. Haile Selassie who’s bloodline and royal lineage linked to King David, Emperor Menelik I, King Solomon, and the Queen of Sheba. He was the Crown Prince and Regent of the East African Ethiopian Empire from 1916-1928. He then became the Emperor of Ethiopia from 1930 until 1974.

He became a member of the League of Nations in 1923. Progressive, Haile Selassie broke up Ethiopian feudal nobility’s power and influence in favor centralizing his government in the late 1920s, early 1930s. This lead to establishing a strong police force, building roads, hospitals, & schools, and other modern economic reforms like establishing a lucrative Ethiopian coffee international trade.

He was exiled from 1936-1941 for leading a resistance against Italy who invaded Ethiopia in 1935. This was due war between Italy and Ethiopia known as the Second Italo-Ethiopian War from 1935-1937. Haile reached out to the League of Nations (whom he was a member of since 1923), he got help from the British (who saw him was an ally in World War 2) and retook Ethiopia in 1941.

He returned to power in the 1940s where he abolish slavery in Ethiopia in 1942. In the early 1950s’ he continued to modernize Ethiopia. In 1955 he established a new constitution that among many things, established financial and tax system, separation of powers between the different levels of government. He also addressed human rights issues, and advocate for land reform.  All the while maintaining his power and authority which pissed off the noble classes.

In 1963 Haile Selassie helped established the Organization of African Unity (known as the African Union). Haile was probably too progressive for this government and couldn’t back up a lot of his ideas. He was ousted from the throne in 1973 after a coup d’état following internal power conflicts, the rise of socialism in Ethiopian, high unemployment rates, and political unrest/social instability related to the 1973 Ethiopian Famine. In 1975 he was strangled to death/assassinated (debated) on August 27th 1975 at the age of 83.

Things that stand out to me in Haile Selassie’s astrology

Stellium in the 12th House (Sun, Venus, and Moon)

- Leo Sun in the 12th House

- Venus (retrograde) and Moon in Cancer in the 12th House

- Pluto conjunct Neptune in Gemini

- Pluto in Gemini in the 10th House

- Neptune in Gemini in the 11th House

- Jupiter in Aries in the 9th House

Lastly

- Mars (retrograde) in Aquarius in the 7th House

Link to astrotheme natal chart: https://www.astrotheme.com/astrology/Haile_Selassie_I

Haile Selassie I was a Leo Sun in the 12th House, this is very interesting. Haile Selassie had a very powerful and very regal presence. Just look at the YouTube video of him walking to the 1937 League of Nations conference. He looked like a king, looked like an emperor, flexing his Leo Ascendant to the max.

There are literally pictures of him petting a Lion, and he had a zoo of 20 lions. Plus Haile Selassie earned the nickname of Lion of Judah. If Leo was a person it will probably be Haile Selassie. Anywho…

His presence, his status was able to strangely tap into the collective unconscious. He has a stellium in the 12th House with Leo Sun, Venus and Moon both in Cancer in the 12th House. 12th House stellium people have an otherworldly energy that very psychic and is very connected to both the spiritual and physical world. I can definitely see him as channeler. Him existing, him being (ego/Leo Sun) probably unconsciously brought something out of people.

Many rastas’ probably sense and felt a connection to his spiritual paternal energy (Venus and Moon in Cancer) and saw him as a Father figure who witnessed, stirred, and nurtured emotions of security and pride in their blackness).

This was probably one of the first modern times blacks saw black resistance on a global world-wide stage. Oppression wasn’t just local but international, especially in Haile Selassie’s stance and resistance to the Italians in the Second Italo-Ethiopian War.

People project onto 12th House people, and in turn 12th House people have a hidden, and mysterious nature. I wonder if Haile saw himself clearly. Was he even allowed to see himself clearly? I say this because of his Cancerian 12th House energy. I could see him as being more introverted and passive in nature but because of the love of his country and pride in his glorious bloodlines (Cancer can be very patriotic and traditional) he suppressed or hid that part of his nature for his people.

Mars (retrograde) in Aquarius in the 7th House

Along with intense 12th House energy, Haile Selassie also had Mars (retrograde) in Aquarius in the 7th House energy. He was a progressive and idealistic royal (for his time) who people projected a lot of their hopes/dreams/fantasies on. The 7th House in astrology is about relationships, business partnerships, open friends and open enemies. It is also about projection; especially being that the 7th House is the descendant. It’s the mirror to the world that we hold up or others hold up for/on us.

Using his Mars retrograde in Aquarius he had big social progressive justice energy. To Rastas’ and admirers at the time he was an enlightened and inspiring reflection of black pride and power. Where oppressed blacks of the diaspora can imagine a world where blacks can be kings, can fight against oppression, and take their place in history, and better a world that wrongs them. Pushing back against the Italians and fellow Leo sun Mussolini was seen as admirable and people gained a lot of respect for Haile Selassie.

Random but ironically I have Mars in Aquarius in the 7th House too and I do sometimes experience projection. People thinking you are being aggressive (or even passive aggressive), people thinking you are trying to control them, or even stronger or weaker than you are. I feels for the man.

Anyways it is fitting he had an Leo/Aquarius opposition so I am sure he felt pressure to give up his autonomy and individuality for royal rule and struggles between the personal/ego self (Leo) and the detached/impersonal ego (Aquarius).

Being a messiah figure on top of a King sounds like a lot of pressure and responsibility for one man. He actually denied being the messiah and distanced himself from that title/definition of him. Especially with the 7th House projection energy it’s very possible that he wasn’t seen as clearly as he would have hoped, combined with all that 12th House energy he has.

Jupiter in Aries in the 9th House.

Haile Selassie had Jupiter in Aries in the 9th House. The 9th House is about higher learning, travel, politics, and a higher belief system. Jupiter is the planet of luck, abundance. He was an Ethiopian Orthodox Christian all his life.  He was an individual (Aries) but he was also his country. He traveled, got involved in international politics (joined the League of Nations hello) and modernize Ethiopia. He had a vision for Ethiopia and with his Mars sextiling Jupiter he definitely felt energize and passionate to make it happen for himself, his legacy, and his people.

Pluto conjunct Neptune in Gemini

- Pluto in Gemini in the 10th House

- Neptune in Gemini in the 11th House

- Jupiter in Aries in the 9th House

Haile also had Pluto conjunct Neptune in Gemini with Pluto being in the 10th house and Neptune in 11th House. These placements are very interesting and telling. The 10th House is career, and reputation and is the most public house in astrology.

Having Pluto in 10th House shows that Haile Selassie is viewed as very powerful and can be seen as very polarizing, maybe even threatening figure. Again there seems to be this intense energy and pressure to be powerful and show that power. Not just power but an idealized version of power being that Pluto conjunct Neptune in his chart.

Neptune in Gemini in the 11th House is why I feel Rastas’ really resonated with Haile Selassie and why he is still revered today. The 11th House is about public associations, social groups/clubs you belong to and collective power. Haile’s reign galvanize and inspired and broke down barriers/boundaries (Neptune) of what black liberation can look like.

Black liberation being having your own homeland. Black liberation ruling one’s self, having autonomy and power. Haile’s personal power became the group’s collective power (11th House energy). Haile Selassie became an endearing spiritual symbol of black liberation in spirituality.

This power converted into religion (which is Neptunian in nature).  Religion can be many things. It can be structured spirituality that provides moral doctrines, discipline, and control (the Saturn side of religion). It can be ever changing, a means for abundance, growth, wisdom, and joy (the Jupiter side of religion).

Neptune is the higher octave of Jupiter, so religion can mean in Neptunian form achieving a higher level of abundance/growth/wisdom through breaking down boundaries (Neptune) in order to be self-actualized and achieve spiritual peace and enlightenment.

I think this all is what Rastafarianism means especially in the context of black liberation in spirituality. A sort of Afrocentric, black-centric spirituality that wasn’t forced on enslaved oppressed people and rebels against the mystical white Jesus. A spirituality that caters, upholds, gives pride, and honors black people.

Leo singer/songwriter Kate Bush Astrology Natal Chart Reading via Her Music

Leo singer/songwriter Kate Bush Astrology Natal Chart Reading via Her Music

I first heard of Kate Bush a couple years ago when reading an astrology blog post by Oxford Astrologer (comparing her with Madonna). I thought she was interesting but didn’t investigate her further. Then a year ago after watching a random ass YouTube documentary on her, I downloaded Running Up That Hill. This was during I think Virgo season. I barely listened to it.

Back in this past Cancer season (last month) during the time of Capricorn Nayla Rivera’s then disappearance & later accidental drowning death (R.I.P) mixed with the anti-police brutality protests, and me personal emotions, the heaviness of Cancer season was effecting me. I was very sad and for some strange reason after listening to Super Cancerian Mazzy Star’s Fade into you, I decided to listen to Kate Bush repeatedly. I downloaded Wuthering Heights, Breathing, and Women’s Work pretty much listening to it on repeat all night. It was so comforting, cheered me up and I later marveled about how relevant her music is now. I knew I wanted to do an astrology blog post on Kate Bush’s music/astrology since Cancer season. Now in her season, I am doing it.

First a look at her Astrology

Sun conjunct Uranus both in Leo (in the 9th House) opposite Moon in Aquarius (in the 3rd House)

Mercury conjunct Pluto in Virgo (in the 10th House) trine Mars in Taurus (in the 6th House)

Venus in Cancer (in the 8th House) in a wide trine with Neptune in Scorpio (in the 12th House)

Jupiter conjunct North Node (retrograde) both in Libra (in the 12th House) trine Chiron retrograde in Aquarius (in the 3rd House)

Uranus in Leo (in the 9th House) opposite Saturn retrograde in Sagittarius (in the 2nd House)

Ascendant in Scorpio

SONG: Wuthering Heights

RELEASE DATE: AQUARIUS SEASON JANUARY 20TH 1978 but originally written during Pisces Season on March 5th 1977

BACKGROUND: "Wuthering Heights" is Kate Bush’s debut song released in January 20th 1978

Bush wrote the song aged 18, within a few hours late at night on Pisces Season 5 March 1977.[3] She was inspired after seeing the 1967 BBC adaptation of the 1847 novel Wuthering Heights. She then read the book, and also discovered that she shared her birthday with author Emily Brontë.

"Wuthering Heights" is sung from the perspective of the Wuthering Heights character Catherine Earnshaw, pleading at Heathcliff's window to be allowed in. It quotes Catherine's dialogue, including the chorus lyric "Let me in! I'm so cold!" and "bad dreams in the night". Cathy is in fact a ghost, which the listener may only realise upon reading the novel. Critic Simon Reynolds described it as "Gothic romance distilled into four-and-a-half minutes of gaseous rhapsody https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wuthering_Heights_(song)

ASTROLOGY THEMES & LYRICS:

Kate has Sun conjunct Uranus both in Leo (in the 9th House) opposite Moon in Aquarius (in the 3rd House)

This was Kate Bush's debut song. She was only 18. I would like to imagine she was the 1970s’/ 1980s’ British Lorde, Billie Eilish, or Taylor Swift being propelled to fame at a young age writing her own songs. The song is dramatic, theatrical, intensely creative, and sung from the perspective of a fictional Gothic romance novel character (that’s is also a ghost). If this isn’t Kate flexing her Uranian genius with her Moon in Aquarius (in the 3rd House) and intense theatrical Sun conjunct Uranus both in Leo (in the 9th House). It’s interesting that Kate sings so personally about a fictional character that is a ghost. It’s like her ego (Sun), mixed (Uranus) itself into her detached/3rd person moon in Aquarius to tell the story/perspective of a ghost.

LYRICS

Out on the wiley, windy moors

We'd roll and fall in green

You had a temper like my jealousy

Too hot, too greedy

How could you leave me

When I needed to possess you?

I hated you, I loved you, too

Bad dreams in the night

They told me I was going to lose the fight

Leave behind my wuthering, wuthering

Wuthering Heights

Heathcliff, it's me, I'm Cathy

I've come home, I'm so cold

Let me in through your window

Cathy wants attention and to be let into the house of a lover. So extra and dramatic. So Leo, So Aquarius, so Uranian. The water bearing moon in Aquarius acting as a conduit for emotions and understanding, while Uranus being the vehicle for her ego to be expressed in surprising mix of heart (Sun in Leo) and detachment (moon in Aquarius).

Mind you she also wrote this in Pisces season while watching a movie adaptation (Neptunian element) of a work by author (Leo Emily Bronte) that shared Kate’s birthday, debuting in Aquarius season (her moon’s season). This was divine intervention, destiny and faith making this song happen.

SONG: Running Up That Hill

RELEASE DATE: LEO SEASON AUGUST 5TH 1985

BACKGROUND: "Running Up That Hill" was the first single by the English singer-songwriter Kate Bush from her 1985 album Hounds of Love, released in the United Kingdom August 5th 1985. Bush herself has said,

I was trying to say that, really, a man and a woman can't understand each other because we are a man and a woman. And if we could actually swap each other's roles, if we could actually be in each other's place for a while, I think we'd both be very surprised! [Laughs] And I think it would lead to a greater understanding. And really the only way I could think it could be done was either... you know, I thought a deal with the devil, you know. And I thought, 'well, no, why not a deal with God!' You know, because in a way it's so much more powerful the whole idea of asking God to make a deal with you. You see, for me it is still called "Deal With God", that was its title. But we were told that if we kept this title that it would not be played in any of the religious countries, Italy wouldn't play it, France wouldn't play it, and Australia wouldn't play it! Ireland wouldn't play it, and that generally we might get it blacked purely because it had God in the title.[4]

ASTROLOGY THEMES & LYRICS:

Moon in Aquarius in the 3rd House (gender fluidity).

Since last US elections (2016) identity politics have come into the collective consciousness conversation. Race, Sexuality, Gender equality, and Gender identity. Aquarius is the water bearer and it’s seen as an asexual, gender neutral/ gender fluid androgynous sign.

LYRICS:

Let's exchange the experience, oh

And if I only could

I'd make a deal with God

And I'd get him to swap our places

I'd be running up that road

Be running up that hill

With no problems

Kate Bush is bringing forth her Moon in Aquarius in the 3rd House energy. She wants to switch places with a man (very gender fluid). For him to know her pain and experiences (emotions, Moon in Aquarius). She’s feeling her pain, intellectualizing it and detaching it her pain into a creative form. It seems Kate’s artistry comes from her needing to detach from her emotions and play it out in the character/world building in her lyrics/song/performance. I think she often writes and performs as different characters, not to escape but as a way to cope and fully be in herself (without being full of herself). Sun/moon opposition at work in Leo. Random but I have a Leo/Aquarius opposition and I somewhat get that.

SONG: This Women’s Work (motherhood, life/birth, regrets, fear, death, etc.)

RELEASE DATE: SCORPIO SEASON NOVEMBER 20TH 1989

BACKGROUND: I originally heard it the 2001 cover from American Gemini R & B Singer Maxwell (who also has an Aquarius moon like Kate). It took me many years to know it was a cover. The song was originally intended for the soundtrack for a John Hughes 1988 movie She’s Having A Baby. "This Woman's Work" was released on 20 November 1989. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/This_Woman%27s_Work

ASTROLOGY THEMES & LYRICS: Kate has Venus in Cancer (in the 8th House) in a wide trine with Neptune in Scorpio (in the 12th House)

Lyrics

Pray God you can cope

I stand outside this woman's work

This woman's world

Ooh, it's hard on the man

Now his part is over

Now starts the craft of the father

I know you've got a little life in you yet

I know you've got a lot of strength left

I know you've got a little life in you yet

I know you've got a lot of strength left

I should be crying, but I just can't let it show

I should be hoping, but I can't stop thinking

Of all the things I should've said

That I never said

All the things we should've done

Though we never did

All the things I should've given

But I didn't

Oh, darling, make it go

Make it go away

People have compared sexual orgasm as a little DEATH. While I heard before that pregnancy/labor is the closest a women will be to death. RAW SEX + MAN + WOMAN = PREGNANCY. Being that this was for a movie about a baby’s health potentially being in jeopardy, and that it was released during Scorpio season it’s also fits in with Kate’s astrology. Kate has Venus in Cancer (in the 8th House) in a wide trine with Neptune in Scorpio (in the 12th House). This shows Kate’s Venus (beauty, pleasure, relationships) in motherly (Cancer) in the 8th House (death, power, sex, transformation, inheritances) was widely trining Neptune in Scorpio in the 12th House (boundaries, sex, illusions, delusions/disillusions). It makes sense that Kate will write about the nuance sea emotions of motherhood/becoming a mother, the fear, uncertainty, powerlessness/vulnerability of an expecting father, transformations/change that could either result in death and life in the most Plutonian way.

I read an article a few ago that between the connection that sex literally has with death and the article suggests that reproducing earlier in life can speed up death (and vice versa). It’s quite a contradiction. The article is Encyclopedia of Death and Dying: Sex and Death, Connection of by MICHAEL C. KEARL if you’re interested.

Anyways Kate’s song is about the uncertainties of life, the regrets, the pain, the hopefulness in the introduction of a delicate new life that is growing inside. A life that is threatened, a life that could be wiped away before it had a chance of being born/birth. This is very Plutonian in a beautiful transformative way. Something that Kate with Venus in Cancer in the 8th House trine Neptune in Scorpio in the 12th house can produce. Using the illusions/comfort of art/music and breaking down of boundaries between life/death (Neptune in Scorpio in the 12th house) to talk/heal the emotional/physical upheavals and transformation of relationships into the new motherhood/parenthood/child roles (Venus in Cancer in the 8th House.)

SONG: Breathing

RELEASE DATE: ARIES SEASON: APRIL 14TH 1980

BACKGROUND: The perspective of an unborn baby in some sort of nuclear war/fall out situation. "Breathing" single released on April 14th 1980 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Breathing_(Kate_Bush_song)

ASTROLOGY THEMES & LYRICS: Mercury conjunct Pluto in Virgo (in the 10th House) trine Mars in Taurus (in the 6th House)

This also a very forward song written by Kate. Especially now in the Lalarona pandemic in which this virus is literally causing people to struggle to breathe. The original meaning was Kate singing a story of the perspective of an unborn baby in the womb, wanting to survive after some sort of nuclear fall-out situation or the effects of smoking nicotine while pregnant. Depends on which source. I think Kate is talking about nuclear war. Kate sings about the literal process of breathing of inhaling /exhaling).

LYRICS:

Outside

Gets inside

Through her skin

I've been out before

But this time it's much safer in

Last night in the sky

Such a bright light

My radar send me danger

But my instincts tell me to keep

Breathing

(Out, in, out, in, out, in)

Breathing

Breathing my mother in

Breathing my beloved in

Breathing

Breathing her nicotine

Breathing

Breathing the fall-out in

Out in, out in, out in, out in

We've lost our chance

We're the first and the last, ooh

After the blast

Chips of plutonium

Are twinkling in every lung

This was released during Aries season which is amazing because Aries is about being, I Am, existence, and violence/war. This song can be applied to the original intention which was one of nuclear war/annihilation). This was literally written during the time of the Cold War and the Soviet Union (SSR) was still a thing. The threat of annihilation was (and still is) definitely a concern of anxiety.

Even now with the Lalarona pandemic and the effects of climate change/ global warming. Even the healing/ techniques of coping with anxiety by simply breathing in and out.

To get into Kate’s astrology with this.

Kate has Mercury conjunct Pluto in Virgo (in the 10th House) trine Mars in Taurus (in the 6th House).

This has a very powerful message. It’s social, political, personal/health wise which is very indicative of Mercury (words) conjunct Pluto (power, death) in Virgo (sign of health, work, and habits/rules over the 6th house).  This is all in the 10th House so it’s about Kate using her words to bring awareness and heal (Pluto/Virgo).

Especially with Kate’s earthy Taurus in Mars singing and waling intensely (literally Taurus rules the throat) and again Kate is describing the process/action (Mars) of breathing of exhalation and inhalation (Taurus/throat and Mercury/lungs). In the fucking 6th house (of health).

Protect the unborn baby, protect yourself, protect the Earth, stay alive, and please keep breathing.

I suggest watching the music videos of these songs too, to see Kate Bush being the Leo Sun conjunct Uranus opposite Moon in Aquarius, Venus in Cancer, Mars in Taurus performative, extra, sensual, zany out of this world energy she has.
