In Conclusion: The Legacy of the Astrology of Leo Energy in Black Liberation: Haiti's Bois Caïman Vodou Meeting, Nat Turner 's Rebellion, and Leo Sun Emmett Till's Brutal Murder
Tomorrow or today (wherever you are at, is the start of Virgo Season) for me it’s August 22nd 2020 now. Until then in the 11th Hour (shout out to Aquarius) I will be concluding the Leo part in my Astrology of Black Liberation series I started. First and foremost there are so much to talk about with Leo and Liberation.
A lot of shit goes down in Leo/July/August season (honestly during the hot summer time months of Cancer, Leo, & Virgo energy). In concluding this series I want to talk about the Legacy of Leo Liberation with 3 more events that happened in Leo season and the legacy of these events in the context of Leo Energy.
Bois Caïman: Haiti August 14 1791
The Haitian Revolution started August 22nd 1791
Bois Caïman was an historic meeting/Vodou ceremony that took place on August 14 1791 before the Haitian revolution began (Leo Season 2 weeks later on August 22nd 1791). Aka today actually.
This August 14th “Bois Caïman” meeting was to plan the revolution that would take place 2 weeks later on August 22nd. This meeting, Bois Caïman (which means Alligator Forrest) was where enslaved Haitian peoples from a various plantations got together under the guise of just a Vodou ceremony to plan the enslaved peoples’ revolt that will lead to the Haitian Revolution (1791–1804), and Haiti earning the title of the 1st Black Republic in 1804.
It was notable also because of its’ mysterious black spirituality occultist setting in the form of a Vodun/Vodou ceremony taking in the middle of woods at night.
It was both a religious spiritual ritual ceremony and a strategic meeting with plans to rebel. The meeting was led by Haitian Freedom Fighter and Houngan (Vodou priest) Dutty Boukman and Cécile Fatiman, a Mambo aka Vodou priestess).
It’s important to note Haitian Vodou at that time wasn’t as sensationalize, demonized, or stigmatize as it is now (I wonder why). Enslaved Haitian people were allowed by plantation owners’ to get together to practice their traditional Vodou ceremony like a social gathering. I guess the slavers thought it improved their work ethic by improving their spirits (idk).
Anyway this event was a catalyst for the Haitian Revolution and it happening during Leo Season. It interesting because Dutty Boukman was translated and quoted saying:
“…This God who made the sun, who brings us light from above, who raises the sea, and who makes the storm rumble. That God is there, do you understand? Hiding in a cloud, He watches us, he sees all that the whites do! The God of the whites pushes them to crime, but he wants us to do good deeds. But the God who is so good orders us to vengeance. He will direct our hands, and give us help. Throw away the image of the God of the whites who thirsts for our tears. Listen to the liberty that speaks in all our hearts.”
My Leo Black Liberation Message: This is Leo Black Liberation. It’s seeing yourself as more than who you are, and wanting more for yourself. Un-confident and low self esteemed people, who don't have love or pride in their existence and self will not fight for themselves. The pride, the beauty you see in yourself, and love for yourself is enough to fight for yourself and your people. This is one of the messages I am stressing for my Astrology of Black Liberation Series; Leo season. Confidence and Love for self is an act of liberation that can inspire the liberation in others.

Nat Turner’s Rebellion: Leo August 21, 1831
I swear these freedom fighters are astrologers or used astrology to plan their rebellions. Especially in Libra sun Nat Turner’s case it isn’t far off. Random a couple of years ago (4 years ago in Libra season 2016); I written an astrology blog post on Libra Sun Nat Turner in link here: https://theastrofiend.blogspot.com/2016/10/american-revolutionary-freedom-fighter.html
This was during time of Birth of Nation movie based on Nat Turner’s Enslaved Peoples’ rebellion and Nate Parker fiasco.
If you don’t know Nathaniel “Nat” Turner (1800-1831) was an enslaved man who led a rebellion in Virginia on August 21, 1831 with a group of enslaved people he recruited. Nat Turner was an educated enslaved person (who could read and write) who was also a preacher.
In this instance there is a religious spiritual supernatural element to it (like with Bois Caïman). Nat Turner claimed he saw divine signs, hear voices and believed that a solar eclipse was a sign from God. A sign to lead people from oppression and bondage into freedom.
So he led a rebellion where he on August 21st 1831 killed his oppressors, secures horses and guns with 75 other enslaved peoples. Turner killed about 55 white people. This rebellion ultimately failed with Turner and 56 of his co-conspirators were executed in Jerusalem, Virginia. This insurrection resulted in a massacre where over 150 black people were violently beaten and attacked by white mobs. This also led to more brutality and oppression including the prohibition of assembly and education for enslaved black people.
My Leo Black Liberation Message: Some can see this as a cautionary tale (and it is). But it’s also a strong message and symbol of the fight for life/ to survive no matter what. Especially in terms of black people using spirituality/religion as a form of liberation to give them confidence, to give themselves pride, and to fight against oppression. This is an example of Leo energy in black spirituality which can be liberating. Again you got to love yourself, take pride in your being, and existence, in order to fight for yourself and others; which is an important lesson in Leo energy in Black Liberation.

Emmett Till: A Leo Sun Symbol for Black Liberation in the Civil Rights era.
Emmett Till (July 25, 1941 – August 28, 1955). Emmett Till was a 14 year old Chicago teen who was visiting relatives in Mississippi who was brutally murdered in 1955 for allegedly flirting with a Carolyn Bryant, a white woman, in her family's grocery store.
For the supposed "crime" of whistling at her, Emmett was abducted from his relative’s home (by the accusers’ husband and half-brother) late in the night, beaten, pistol whipped, brutally mutilated, and shot in the head. He was then stripped naked, and the men tied with barbed wire around him with a large heavy metal cotton gin fan. After his murder they threw his body anchored with the large fan in a river and burned his clothes.
He was reported missing which caught the attention of Medgar Evers, a secretary for NAACP in Mississippi who got involved in trying to find him. His unrecognizable and grotesquely disfigured body was found a few days later. He could only be identified by a ring he was wearing.
Afterward his death/discovery his murder trial led to his murderers’ being swiftly acquitted in a matter of hours by an all-white jury.
The men who murdered Emmett Till proudly admitted in a magazine not to long after to murdering Emmett Till. One of Emmett Till’s murderers' was quoted saying to the magazine:
“Well, what else could we do? He was hopeless. I'm no bully; I never hurt a nigger* in my life. I like niggers*— in their place —I know how to work 'em. But I just decided it was time a few people got put on notice. As long as I live and can do anything about it, niggers* are gonna stay in their place. Niggers* ain't gonna vote where I live. If they did, they'd control the government. They ain't gonna go to school with my kids. And when a nigger* gets close to mentioning sex with a white woman, he's tired o' livin'. I'm likely to kill him. Me and my folks fought for this country, and we got some rights. I stood there in that shed and listened to that nigger* throw that poison at me, and I just made up my mind. 'Chicago boy,' I said, 'I'm tired of 'em sending your kind down here to stir up trouble. Goddam you, I'm going to make an example of you—just so everybody can know how me and my folks stand.” — J. W. Milam, Look magazine
Decades later in 2007/2008 the woman, Carolyn Bryant who started it all, admitted she lied in her testimony.
Emmett Till was a Leo Sun killed in Virgo Season who claim for rightful justice was evaded during Libra season with the acquittal of his murderers. There is a lot of Virgo energy sprinkled into this ( the incident happened on August 24th, he was murdered on August 28th, found a few days later his body was found). I am not focusing on that though.
The take away and Leo energy event in Emmett Till's case is his mother held an open casket funeral and allowed reporters to take photos of Emmett Till's dead body. She wanted to show people what white supremacists did to her son. The photos of Emmett Till's mutilated, bloated, deformed, and grotesque dead body was published on the front of Black magazines like Jet Magazine for all the world to see. His Sagittarius mother wanted the world to see what white supremacy and anti-black racism/systematic oppression violence looked like. You can find the pictures of Emmett Till's dead body now, let me just say thank God they are at least in black and white. SMH, I suggest you don't look at them or share them.
Emmett Till’s ghastly murder galvanized the black population in the pre-shadow period of Jim Crow/Segregation/Voting Suppression /Civil Rights era. A wake up siren for Black Liberation.
I would imagine it galvanize blacks in the same way Aquarius’s Trayvon Martin (murdered in Pisces Season February 26th 2012), Virgo Eric Garner (murdered in Cancer Season July 17th 2014) and Taurus Mike Brown (murdered in Leo Season August 9th 2014 ) wrongful murders galvanized the nation leading to protests, the formation of Black Lives Matter, calls for justice, anti-police brutality, and rioting/social out-rage. Sounds familiar right? Remember history don’t just repeats it rhymes too.
My Leo Black Liberation Message: My black liberation message here is not just about his death but the way in which his Leo energy was used. Emmett, a Leo Sun and a victim of white supremacy. The evil brutality and heinous nature of his murder became a symbol of black Leo Liberation in Civil Rights era (and now).
He was in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons but his death, his life force, his light, and his voice couldn’t be dimmed, inspiring folks even after his wrongful death. He helped propelled the civil rights movement forward. This sounds weird to some but you know energy can't be destroyed. I think Emmett's Leo energy and presence lived on, wanting to be hear and noticed. This along with the connection and love his mother had for him. Remember Leo rules over the 5th House which includes themes of love and kids/children.
His Black Live Mattered. Justice and retribution for this death mattered. He didn’t get the justice he deserved, but his unfortunate untimely dead, in a way shook up the United States of America. This is big Leo energy here, it was love of his mother, the NAACP's / Cancer sun Medgar Evers love and pride for his people that allowed for his life, his likeness to shine. This is Leo energy.
Thank you for reading. I hope to do this for each zodiac sign this year and next, but I'm also not putting too much pressure on myself.
